KUKOSA,
A cultural void.
My cultural heritage shapes this project and reflects my Congolese roots. Congolese culture lives within me; it goes beyond geography and is part of who I am. This collection is my way of reinterpreting that part of myself.
Inspired by Congo’s rich heritage of traditions, artistic objects and architecture, I aimed to capture its timeless essence. This is not just an aesthetic exercise but a personal exploration of cultural identity and belonging. My goal was to create a narrative that expresses the complexity of heritage and movement, a conversation between the past, present, and future.
The collection includes four pieces: a bench, a rack, a stool, and a headrest. Each one represents ideas of support, unity, and balance, blending my interpretation of Congolese history with a contemporary sensibility. Beyond their function, these pieces act as vessels of cultural storytelling, artifacts in an ongoing dialogue between history and contemporary life.
